How do I get the award?
The award has been organised into three specific stages to remain challenging but time manageable.
Stage one - Commitment Certificate
- Produce an action plan for the full award
- Achieve outcome 1 (outcomes 1 & 2 for work-based learning providers) and send supporting evidence to the local contact
Commitment certificate achieved
Stage two - Intermediate award
- Achieve outcomes 2-5 (2-8 for FE College/3-8 for work-based learning provider) and compile portfolio evidence
- Review and update the action plan for the full award
- Undergo an external assessment by a registered assessor
Intermediate certificate achieved
Stage three - Full award
- Achieve outcomes 6-10 (9-11 for FE College/9-13 for work-based learning provider) and compile portfolio evidence
- Undergo an external assessment by a registered assessor
- Give a presentation to an Investor in Careers panel
Full award achieved (certificate/plaque). Right to use Investor in Career logo gained
Reassessment (after 3 years)
- Achieve the 3 reassessment outcomes and provide supporting evidence
- Undergo an external assessment by a registered assessor
Full award received for another three years (certificate/plaque). Right to use Investor in Career logo retained
Investor in Careers Portfolio
The following ten items of written evidence should be provided (or signposted to) within the IiC portfolio by all organisations working towards Investor in Careers
- An action plan for completing the full award
- A letter of commitment from the head of the organisation and the chair of governors or the board, supported by a formal committee minute
- A current CEIAG policy, that includes clear learner entitlement statements, linked to other policies and the organisation improvement/development plan
- A published CEIAG programme for all learners with specific learning outcomes
- Details of a range of work-related learning and enterprise activities linked to the CEIAG programme
- A current Partnership Agreement with the external IAG provider
- Evidence of differentiated support to meet learner needs
- Examples of training and support for delivery staff
- Examples of how destinations data and LMI are integrated into the CEIAG programme
- Examples of a range of monitoring, review, evaluation and improvement methods/tools
In addition to this there may be other pieces of evidence which will further support the essentials above. This is not an exhaustive or prescriptive list but may include: emails, minutes of meetings, newsletters, prospectuses, lesson plans, reports, evaluation forms, training needs analysis and development plans.
The assessor will also collect evidence during their visits to the organisation from observations and conversations carried out with key staff and students
